anyone going to watch some county cup action this week? if you go a mix of hardly walking, barely breathing, used to be decent, think they still are decent, are still decent, average, good on grass, good at doubles, top national still, well top 50, up-and-coming juniors, and a liberal coating of deep heat, will all be on display, and generally on the same court! please let me know your thoughts |

This reminds me of a conversation I once had with an LTA coach who had been a county week stalwart in her day.
Putting forward my tips for the forthcoming Wimbledon, she confessed that, apart from Federer, Rodick (pre-Raffa) and the Williams', she couldn't name a single top twenty player, male or female and no British women at all!
Can you imagine a Sunday pub league football coach who couldn't name more than four Premiership players? |

| good point, my feeling is no more than 5% of coaches have any interest in the game than money/income.but 90& of them love a good old freebie! |

| nice piece in the times today about county cup, sums it all up very nicely, although the underlying cost of it all may never be told |
