Viewing might be a bit better than for the indoor 10k; just up the road so would hope to get across for some of it; to see Katie lifting the title maybe

Entry list currently:

MD: 2 Katie; 14 Naomi C

Qualies: 3 Laura; 8 Heather; 11 Anna S; 18 Naomi B

Alts: 13 Lisa; 19 Emily; 21 Joss; 46 Jade W

REVISED TARGET: BETTER THAN 1985!

Katie never wins between April and September.

Unless she's partnering Cirstea...

Viewing is quite good for the outdoor wrexham event. I'm just annoyed that this became a challenger for the women after i moved down to south wales

GO TEAM GBR IN 2010!

Katie is currently doing one non-first round loss per block:

Oz Stretch: Oz Open r2
US Tour: Miami Q2
Europe/South Africa: Torhout QF
Clay: Fes r2
Grass: Nottingham r2

So she should get at least one win over the two GB events, one when she goes to the states/portoroz, and one when we get back indoors around september/october

So we are looking at a potential 'worst case' year win/loss of around 10/27. Which would be less matches than she won in the first three months last year.

She did make the final of Vigo last summer, losing to Georgie, so got that to defend.

I'm feeling good that the year will end better for Anne, Katie, Naomi and Mel than it started

Handy for the Ryder Cup, though; and, who knows, the Davis Cup some time soon (by which time hopefully that will be a good thing!)

I briefly considered going to this and then realised it's a three hour drive away from Cardiff. Boo to that.

I've just noticed that all the seeds in qualifying (i.e. players with a ranking at date of entry) are Brits. How odd. Looking at the cut-off for the main draw (591) there must be a lot of tournaments elsewhere this week. Still it increases the chances for British success I suppose.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the wild cards with so many getting in directly. A chance to be really creative I feel.

No Naomi C any more so top ranked GBTGs here now our prime two "young 'uns"; here's hoping they are in opposite sides of the draw...

Meantime, Jade W up into the MD and a host of GBTGs up from the alt list (since I last looked anyway! )

Latest:

MD: 5 Laura; 6 Heather; 7 Jo; 9 Naomi B; 11 Lisa; 12 Emily; 13 Joss; 17 Jade

Qualies: 1 Tara; 2 Anna F; 3 Nicola G; 5 Liz; 6 Mandy E; 7 Sam; 16 Yaz; 20 Michelle; 21 Sian; 22 Fran; 23 Manisha; 24 Jazzy; 25 Nicole; 26 Emilia

Alts: 1 Daneika; 2 Elisha et al

Having made it, I guess I'd better stick with my prediction that one of them will be in one half of the draw and the other will be in neither half of the draw. Though I'm getting increasingly nervous.

I'm deluding myself, maybe, that I'll be able to nip up the road to see that match

The LTA seem to be as confused as you, but haven't taken it as a chance to be creative. It's likely two or three of the wild cards will be moved up, and they'll get to pick again.

WCM MOORE, Tara GBR 614
WCM GEORGE, Nicola GBR 826
WCM $ THOMAS, Elizabeth GBR 917
WCM STEPHENSON, Francesca GBR - 145

WCQ STARLING, Natasha GBR - 331

Fran gets a ranking.

Qualie draw is out: http://www.lta.org.uk/Global/Downloads/Results/2010/AEGON%20Pro-Series/Wrexham%20JUL/Womens%20singles%20qualifying%20draw.pdf

Highest placed from entry list in QD is no. 25 Nionova. Perhaps Sian got a WCM, or maybe they just cancelled them all (converting Sam and Amanda etc. into direct acceptances--not sure if that's possible).

I think the draw has been redone, but I can't work out the changes.

Anyhoo, pretty good day, only GB Girl to lose to a non-Brit was Lolade.

Main draw is pretty horrible. The Brits have managed to attach themselves to seeds like magnets.

Some of the highlights:

Fran vs Mirza
Liz vs Fedossova
Jade W vs Laine
Naomi vs Sam
Nicola vs Heather
Emily vs Barthel

Naomi and Heather are in the same quarter.

Laura has withdrawn.
