From very very vague memory did Laura not win the 2nd set tie-break and match against Maria Jose Martinez-Sanchez at the Hopman Cup final this year?!
Guess you're talking about wta/itf competition though....! |

First time Katie's posted three wins together since Tokyo back in October last year...there's a lot to be said to wracking up wins and gaining confidence so hopefully this is a small step in the right direction. You can't fault her battling this tournament!
Should be encouraging for Anna though. The general consistency of results she's posted this year seems to suggest she could be a solid top 200 player and if she keeps up the same sort of performances at challenger level that's a reasonable target to aim for by the end of they year - and Ozzie Open qualification:)
Laura's seeded next week so should be expected to at least make quarters comfortably and guarantee that US Open qualification position - though whether these two challengers on home soil where she's the name to gun for and has the pressure on her is the wisest use of her few remaining tournament allocations is highly debatable... |

Very well done from Katie, Laine's a tough cookie and very experienced. Proving to be a good move to drop down and play the 25ks rather than her usual trip to Porotoz.
She'll have to be at her battling best against Babos but is a good enough defender and mover to make Babos start missing and spraying, especially if the conditions are as windy. |

Good to see Katie getting some wins.
I feel a summer of challengers and then US open quallies could do her the world of good in terms of points, confidence and anything else.
GO TEAM GBR IN 2010! |

Unfortunately Katie lost the final 75 64
Can't be too disappointed, Timea appears to be playing well this week, while Katie had made the final through sheer grit, determination and fight.
Given how tough 2010 has been its brilliant to see her string a few wins together and have a good event. I don't think we can call it a return to form given the relative quality of opposition, but its a good step forward.
Hope she can keep building and have a good week in France.
I think a late summer of 25's and then US qualies is, as Myfyr says, a good scheduling option. |
